About
Dr. Berlin started a private practice to provide a more personal and integrative approach to psychiatric care. She is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine and did her psychiatry residency at George Washington University and a predoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health researching the impact of hormonal changes on mood. She has lived in several countries and values a culturally sensitive approach to patient care. She believes that most people don't fit neatly into a diagnostic box, and custom tailors treatment to the individual's symptoms.
Please note that she provides medication management only, not psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is often an essential component of mental health recovery, and if you are not already seeing a therapist, she will help you to find one that is appropriate.
Sometimes, medication is not the best choice for management of mental health problems. Dr. Berlin can work with you to decide if a medication would be appropriate and helpful, and if not, can advise on other modalities of treatment. If you are considering stopping a psychiatric medication you are already taking, she can discuss with you whether it would be appropriate, help you to discontinue it safely, and then continue to follow you to make sure your symptoms do not return.
Dr. Berlin is fluent in Spanish.
